Luke Burgess

Intermediate Physiotherapist

Luke Burgess

Born and raised in the mighty River City, Whanganui. Growing up I had a strong passion in all things sports and naturally progressed to study physiotherapy when realising I wasn’t going to cut it as an athlete. I did my undergraduate degree at Otago Uni then moved to Auckland to work in private practice and with New Zealand football.

Whilst in Auckland I completed my post graduate diploma in sports physiotherapy before heading to the UK and Sweden to continue working in private practice and with sports clubs. Highlights being a role in the Manchester City Academy and recently being involved in tours with the NZ All Whites in preparation for the World Cup.

Clinically, my main interests are in complex sports related injuries. In the past a lot of my work has been related to football and running but I like to treat a diverse range of injuries as well as a focus on injury prevention in youth athletes.

When I’m not working I like to be out enjoying the outdoors, training for my next event or just catching up with friends (normally on a golf course or in a pub). Having never lived up here before, I look forward to seeing what the Bay of Plenty has to offer!
